ECO Elites beat Milford
MILFORD – The OCO Elites picked up the win against Milford's 19-U team Wednesday night at Milford. Tied 1-1 in the 4th, the Elites' Paul Van Warner led off with a walk followed up by stealing 2nd. Brett Smith's double to left scored Van Warner before Austin Taylor singled. The Elites' put another one up when Smith came home on a balk. With two outs, Brandon Miles singled. Taylor scored when a throw back to the pitcher was off line to put the Elites up 4 -1.Milford added a run in the bottom of the 5th and 6th, but the Elites scored two more runs in the top of the sixth when Taylor led off the inning with a single, Shackelton walked then Miles singled, plating Taylor. Shakelton would score on Richard Ryan's sacrifice fly to right. Three runs were added in the seventh on a two-run double by Shackelton that scored Van Warner and TaylorShackelton picked up the win allowing four runs over six innings – striking out six – walking five and giving up five hits. Smith, allowed no earned runs, one hit, walked none and struck out one during his one inning of relief. Robert Burton took the loss for Milford, allowing seven runs in 5 1/3 innings, walking four and struck out two.The Elites play at Unatego on Monday evening.
