Two children in vehicle accident, unharmed

GUILFORD – Yesterday evening an accident was reported to 911 after two young children got into a vehicle with the keys in it. The vehicle then rolled back and went over an embankment for 10 to 12 feet to land in the nearby creek, according to Sergeant J. Hitt with the Sheriff's Office.
Said A. Jones, Chief Dispatcher with the Sheriff's Office, “It was reported that one of the children was ejected from the vehicle.”
“As of last night there were no injuries to either children,” said Hitt. He explained that the three year old was at one point unconscious, but was not injured.
“They were both transported as a precaution,” he continued. Hitt explained that this is standard procedure whenever a child is unconscious and resuscitated.
“One child was treated at the scene by Guilford and CMT, then airlifted by Life Net to Upstate Medical Center,” said Jones.
Hitt explained that the child was airlifted because this was the quickest mode of transport.
When asked if there were more details regarding the circumstances surrounding the childrens' accessibility to the vehicle Hitt said, “At this point we're still continuing the investigation.”
