Norwich man dies in car accident

**UPDATE**
LAURENS – On Saturday, June 14 William H. Winans, Jr., 67, Norwich, died after a one car accident on State Route 23 in the town of Laurens. His wife, Kathleen M. Winans, 64, was also inside the vehicle at the time and was injured, but survived.
According to Public Information Office, Trooper Nate Riegal, of New York State Police, Troop C, there was one vehicle involved that was operated by the deceased operator.
"Mr. Winans failed to negotiate a left hand curve. He struck the guide rail, the vehicle was partially struck around... and struck a vacant house," he said.
Mrs. Winans was transported to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown with non-life threatening injuries. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death of Mr. Winans, who reportedly suffered massive head trauma during the accident.
The Winans both worked part-time as OPT bus drivers, and were supposedly en route to Norwich when the accident occurred.
The State Police out of Oneonta responded to the scene and the investigation is currently ongoing.
