Celebrate 6OT's Seventh Anniversary with SONiA and Disappear Fear

OXFORD – Saturday, June 21, at 7:30 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) is celebrating their seventh anniversary with award winning SONiA and disappear fear! disappear fear is a songwriter, a band, a visual artist named SONiA (Rutstein) from Baltimore, Maryland, touring her disappear fear sound in 16 countries and leaving a whole bunch of smiles in her wake. Along with this fine entertainer, there will be great raffles as well as cake for the celebration.
Singing in Hebrew, Spanish, Arabic and of course English, her powerful honesty touches folks of varied social and ethnic backgrounds especially those moving toward a positive World Vision. Having performed in Israel/Palestine, SONiA's Judaic roots soar in the colors of her songs and paintings.
"Her songs are a vivid celebration of the human spirit in all its infinite manifestations," wrote Don Kening of the Chicago Daily Herald, adding "her music has a singular sound all its own that makes labeling and categorizing a waste of time."
SONiA has received many awards, including the Coin of Honor from the US Army for her humanitarian efforts, and the GLAAD award for Best Album (received also by Elton John and Melissa Etheridge). SONiA has shared the stage with many of her heroes, including Bruce Springsteen (Light of Day, Jan 2014) and Pete Seeger (Clearwater). SONiA is grateful to her worldwide fan base that is the backbone of her 25-year career.
When asked about her unique sound, SONiA explains, “I think my voice is somewhere between Patti Smith and Perry Como; and my guitar style has a Gipsy Kings/Richie Havens flavor. The songs are mine but you can hear some Beatles and Springsteen. It’s really all about the energy--like a bird jumping off a window ledge. It’s in that split second of trust and light and talent and God."
