Search for parole absconder ends, Norwich Police Chief verified at 7:11 p.m.
NORWICH – Norwich Police are no longer searching for a 25-year-old male, Christoher A. Bonno, a wanted parole absconder, who was spotted by a Norwich Police Department detective in an unmarked car at approximately 3:50 p.m. Monday.
Per a release from the NPD, Bonno was seen walking on Rexford St. east of Silver Street in the City of Norwich. “The detective stopped and approached the subject, but the parolee fled the area on foot through several private yards,” read the release.
Norwich Police then carried out a ground search in the areas of River St., Rexford St., Gold St., Mitchell St., and various other areas on the east side of the city.
“The Chenango County 9-1-1 center dispatchers sent out a reverse 9-1-1 telephone message alerting residents in the search area. This reverse 9-1-1 warning was canceled at about 5:10 p.m.,” read the release.
The Norwich Police were aided by Chenango County Sheriff’s Office deputies, NYS Police troopers and Division of Parole officers.
Bonno was sent to NYS prison in August of 2013 for a sentence of two to four years for felony criminal mischief and was released on parole March 26, 2014. Bonno is additionally wanted by the Town of New Berlin Police Department on a Petit Larceny warrant. Norwich Police may also have additional charges against this subject.
At 7:11 p.m., Angelino said police have located the man.
