Sidney tops Afton for Pony League title

ONEONTA – Sidney 1 capped a perfect 11-0 season beating Afton in the Otsenango Pony League championship game, 10-3, Thursday evening at Neahwa Park.

Sidney broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the bottom of the second. Tyler McKee connected with a two-run single to score Trevor Dutton and Justin McMillan. A throwing error on a stolen base attempt scored Sidney's third run of the inning, and another throwing error plated a second unearned run of the inning.

Parker Boice pitched a complete-game victory for Sidney in which he relied heavily on defense and control pitching. Boice allowed four hits striking out three and walking just one. The Sidney defense finished with just one error.
