Several appear in county court for felony arraignments

NORWICH – Several appeared for their arraignments and restitution review on Thursday and Friday in the Chenango County Court.

• Adam D. Simpkin, 20, Afton, appeared in court for his arraignment and pleaded not guilty to burglary in the third degree, a class D felony; and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor. Bail was kept at $5,000 cash and he was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility to wait for sentencing.

It is alleged that on June 7, 2014, he did knowingly enter and remain unlawfully in a Sherburne business and did commit the crime of petit larceny therein by stealing property in the form of US currency and an iPhone 3S.

• Scott M. Bush, 25, Sherburne, appeared in court for his arraignment and pleaded not guilty to burglary in the second degree, a class C felony; and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor. He was released on his own recognizance and will appear in court at a later date.

It is alleged that on June 9, 2014, in Sherburne Bush did knowingly enter and unlawfully remain in a building with the intent to commit a crime therein. Allegedly, while in the building he did steal a benefit card, beer mug and approximately $300 in cash and loose change.
