NEW BERLIN – Crews were quick to respond to a fire that destroyed a home in South New Berlin on Thursday morning.

Reports of a fire at 2360 State Highway 8, south of South New Berlin, were made at 9:16 a.m., according to the Chenango County 911 dispatch. The South New Berlin Fire Department responded with mutual aid from the New Berlin, Mount Upton, and Norwich fire departments.

Despite initial concern that residents may have been home at the time, a primary and secondary search of the home determined they weren’t and no injuries were reported, according to Chenango County Emergency Dispatcher A. Jones.
