Fall mum sale benefits area pets
NORWICH – The 6th annual mum sale to benefit All Animals Matter, Inc., is underway now through the end of September at Maiurano's Greenhouse, Route 12, Norwich.
Mums can be purchased at Maiurano's during its business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. through 4 p.m., and Sundays by chance. Mums are also available at Gallery Three-Two-One, 41 State Street in Oxford during regular business hours (11 a.m – 5 p.m.)
According to Diane Troxell of All Animals Matter (AAM), there is no price increase for the archetypal fall flowers for the third consecutive year. “The mums require a lot of nurturing and care, and Maiurano's does a fantastic job at growing them ... We're very grateful for their service and support.”
Those interested can purchase one for $6, three for $16, or six for $30.
“We appreciate all of the generous support that AAM received through the years through our various fundraisers,” said Troxell. “With the decline in funding for other animal shelters and organizations in the area, we've had to take on a more substantial role in assisting the community though our spay and neuter program, so every donation is crucial and appreciated.”
All Animals Matter, Inc., is a 501c3 not for profit organization dedicated to helping animals.
“It primarily assists in the cost of spaying and neutering dogs and cats in Chenango County,” said Troxell.
AAM also assists in the medical costs of emergency services for pet owners facing financial hardship.
According to Troxell, the feral cat program has helped more than 150 undomesticated felines since the beginning of 2014.
“We have also distributed over one ton (2,000 pounds) of pet food to needy pets from our Pet Food Bank, thanks to the generosity of businesses like Tractor Supply Company in Norwich, and employees from Frontier Communications in Sherburne,” Troxell added.
