NORWICH – Dean Howard scored the lone goal of the second half to give Sidney a one-goal victory over Norwich Monday.
Nick Meno tallied twice for Sidney in the first only to be countered by Norwich freshman Luis Diaz's first two goals of the season as the two clubs went into halftime deadlocked.
"I felt we outplayed them and we did a good job, but that's the breaks of the game," said Norwich coach Scottie Decker. "We outshot them, we just couldn't put it in the cage.”
Norwich plays at Unatego Thursday.

WINDSOR – Norwich moved one win from clinching the STAC Central division title beating Windsor on the road Monday.
Norwich's Makenzie Maynard won in three sets over a much-improved Julie Nemcek at first singles. Caroline Stewart, who went to three sets with Amanda Kilbury earlier this season, swept Kilbury, and did not allow a game.
"It was a solid win for us a on a cold night," said Norwich coach John Stewart.
Taylor Stroh won at third singles, and first doubles team Cohley Acenowr and Sam Gage won in straight sets.
Norwich (8-1) received forfeit victories at second and third doubles.

Norwich 211, Seton Catholic Central 231
PLYMOUTH – Norwich sophomore Nate Scheer shot his best score on the home layout at Canasawacta Country Club as Norwich won its second straight match Monday.
Scheer birdied his first two holes, 10 and 11, as the Tornado played the new nine holes at C.C.C. With the victory, Norwich also avenged a 14-stroke road loss to the Saints earlier this season.
"Nate is coming and around, and for him, it was about believing in himself again," said Norwich coach David Branham.
Alex Gage and Ryan Johnson shot 38 and 39 respectively, and Joe Mioduszewski carded a 42.
Norwich (4-5) hosts Binghamton today and Chenango Forks on Wednesday.

Field Hockey

Herkimer 5, Sherburne-Earlville 2
SHERBURNE – Herkimer scored in bunches early in the second half to pull away from Sherburne-Earlville Monday night.
The Magicians' Codi Gay had a magical three-minute stretch in which she scored three goals to give her club a commanding advantage.
Gay's goals came at 23:32, 22:35, and 20:34. S-E scored before the last goal to make it a two-goal game before Gay responded less than a minute later.
"Herkimer was aggressive and quick with its sticks, especially in the circle, and they beat us to a lot of balls," said S-E coach Sheila Cooman.
The Marauders were within one goal at the break on the strength of Alexa Bates' goal. Bates then set up Megan Rodman nine minutes into the second half to pare the Herkimer lead to 4-2.
S-E plays at Canastota today and hosts Mount Markham Thursday.
