‘No-knock’ warrant leads to drug arrest
NORWICH — A no-knock search warrant executed by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday led to the seizure of various drugs, an undisclosed amount of cash, and ultimately brought about the arrest of a 26-year-old Norwich woman.
Michelle Gonzalez was located on Silver Street in the City of Norwich, per a release from the CCSO. Gonzalez was said to be in possession of heroin, crack cocaine and cash.
“A continued investigation led to the recovery of additional crack cocaine, heroin and several illegally possessed prescription medications,” read the release. It is alleged those illegal items belonged to Gonzalez.
The woman was charged with four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Authorities said the search warrant stemmed from a lengthy investigation into the sales of crack and heroin in the Norwich area.
Gonzalez was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail following her arraignment in Norwich City Court.
According to police, additional charges and arrests are expected as the investigation is ongoing.
Assistance with the investigation was provided by the Norwich Police Department, New York State Police CNET, and the Chenango County District Attorney’s Office.
Gonzalez is scheduled to appear in Norwich City Court at a later date.
