ENDWELL – Greene duplicated its one-goal win over Maine-Endwell from last month, but this time around, found the cage with the winning goal in the final minute of play.

The Trojans drew a penalty corner after a run into the circle by eighth-grader McKenna Sergi. The Trojans called a timeout to set up the corner play, and the play that was called was executed perfectly.

Jess Kehoe inserted the pass to Laura Durdon, who one-timed a shot to the left side of the goal. Katie Anderson scooped up the loose ball, then fed a pass across the penalty area to Sergi, who put away the winner.

Greene allowed just one shot from the Spartans, and it proved a difficult one to stop, said Greene coach Sue Carlin. "Our team as a whole played much better," the Greene coach said. "Jess (Kehoe) and Skylar Gilmore played great games on defense for us, and Tiffany Borst made a nice run for us about a minute before we scored. We're passing it better as a team and working better together."

Greene hosts Whitney Point on Friday in the first round of its tournament.
