Norwich Fire Department to host open house Thursday
NORWICH – In light of National Fire Prevention and Safety Week, staff and volunteers of the Norwich Fire Department will hold an educational open house from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the fire station located on East Main Street.
The event will feature a number of fire safety and prevention activities, as well as emergency vehicles on display, and information about the importance of ensuring fire prevention measures like smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and sprinkler systems.
At 7 p.m., emergency crews, in collaboration with Norwich High School students and WBNG -TV Action News, will also demonstrate the dangers of texting while driving with a mock crash. The Chenango County Department of Health will also be present throughout the evening to provide residents with flu shots.
