The Place invites community to first-ever Halloween Fest
NORWICH — With the warm amber palette of autumn slowly fading into the ether of winter, there's no better time than the present to slow down and enjoy the vivid seasonal offerings with family and friends.
With that is mind, The Place in downtown Norwich is pleased to announce its first ever Halloween Fest on Oct. 23, 2014 to help kick off the Halloween celebrations planned throughout local communities over the next week.
“We are looking forward to providing an evening of fun for the families in our community in spirit of the fall season and Halloween,” said The Place Executive Director Rebecca Sands.
The Place staff and students have been hard at work preparing for the evening event designed to build lasting memories. The event also serves students of The Place KIDS Program as an enrichment opportunity through the planning and execution of community activities.
“The KIDS Program has been preparing party favors and decorations for The Halloween Fest. They're very eager and excited,” Sand said. “We know first-hand that families are very busy with work and school, and so we hope that the event will encourage families to take the night off from all the everyday stresses and simply spend some quality time with one another.”
The Halloween Fest will be held Thursday, October 23 from 5 – 7 p.m. The event will feature an evening of fun for families, including pumpkin carving (first come, first served), games and prizes. Dinner on The Place is made possible by generous donations from the Norwich Price Chopper and Nina's. The celebration is able to offer pizza and drinks.
In addition, Sheila Marshman, from Marshman Farms in Oxford, is organizing a fall-themed backdrop for family photos.
