Police: ‘Mutual combat’ during domestic dispute, two arrested

NORWICH — Two were arrested by Norwich Police Monday night after authorities said a female stabbed a male in front of a child.
Police responded to a Mitchell Street residence in the City of Norwich at approximately 10:30 p.m. Monday for a domestic dispute call.
“When officers arrived on the scene, they found a male holding a bloody towel around his arm,” said Norwich Police Chief Joseph Angelino.
Jessica Lennox, 21, of Norwich was charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony; criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor; criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor; endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor; and harassment in the second degree, a violation.
According to police, the man involved was transported to UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital to be treated for his stab wound.
Angelino said that upon further investigation, Police found the altercation was “mutual combat.”
Domenick Lepera, 22, of Norwich, was charged with criminal obstruction of breath or blood, a class A misdemeanor; endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor; assault in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor; and harassment in the second degree, a violation.
“According to the report, he assaulted her, she stabbed him,” said Angelino, adding that the child present during the altercation was a two-year-old male.
Both Lennox and Lepera were held in Norwich Police Department lockup awaiting arraignment in Norwich City Court Tuesday morning.
