Bobcats advance in Class C playoffs

Bainbridge-Guilford 3, Walton 1
BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford advanced to the second round of the Section IV Class C playoffs scoring three times in the first half in a win over Walton Tuesday.
Trevor Halaquist scored 10 minutes into the game off a Dan Norris pass, Jake Cuozzo tallied nine minutes later, and Norris added his team's third goal with 4 1/2 minutes remaining in the first half.
B-G gave up a penalty kick to Walton's Nate Pieper with 27 minutes remaining.
The Bobcats (16-2) play at Spencer-Van Etten Friday.

BINGHAMTON – Seton Catholic Central scored twice late in the first half on its way to a Section IV Class C playoff win over visiting Unadilla Valley Tuesday.
Alex Kashani scored on a breakaway for the Saints after a UV defender slipped to the ground. Kashani added the second goal after a misclear from the Storm's defensive zone.
Liam Karl and Griffen Covert scored in the second half for the Saints. "I thought we played a really good first half, and the first 20 minutes we dominated," said UV coach Ryan Houck. "But we struggled to find the net."
The Storm finish with an 8-8 record.
Girls' Swimming
Norwich 96, Holland Patent 85
NORWICH – Norwich had four one-two finishes, and captured nine events to defeat Holland Patent Tuesday in a non-league meet.
The Tornado (6-4) finished first and second in the 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 backstroke. "With only 10 swimmers available tonight, we did what we had to do," said Norwich coach Kevin Diefenbacher.
Norwich's Maya Blaisure and Marybeth Ward won two individual events apiece; while Danika Tworkowsky and Melissa Stroh added victories. Norwich had the victory sealed before the final event, the 400 free relay.
"There wasn't much wiggle room, so everyone had to perform and beat their competition," Diefenbacher said.
Norwich swims at Oneonta Thursday.

CONKLIN – Greene coaxed every last point out of its 14-person roster, and won the meet-closing 400 free relay to forge a tie with Susquehanna Valley Tuesday evening.
The Trojans won 10 out of 12 events, but the Sabers' superior roster numbers allowed it to scarf up numerous depth points. "Every swimmer on our roster contributed tonight, and I was satisfied with our performances," said Greene coach Mike Platta.
Greene swept all three relays and standouts Kailey Yanusas and Julia Arboit won two individual events apiece. Margot McDermott and Marissa Pavlovich also added single wins to contribute to the Trojans' point total.
Greene (6-5-1) swims hosts Windsor on Friday.

There was no comeback in the offing for the 'Jackets Tuesday as the Tornado swept all three games, 25-15, 25-19, 25-18.
Cassie Birtch had 11 assists, Meghan Komendarek finished with 12 kills, and Courtney Scheer totaled four aces and six kills.
The victory for Norwich (11-3) was its first against Oneonta in over a decade. "We had some things happen the first time we played (Oneonta), and we weren't able to recover," said Norwich coach Shelly Alger. "This match was pretty convincing."
