Two accidents Monday leave two in critical condition

NORWICH – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, with help of several other local emergency departments, responded to two separate incidents on Monday that left at least two people in critical condition.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the first incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m., when deputies received a call of a 20-year-old male who fell off a moving motor vehicle on Preston Center, near the intersection of County Road 4 in the Town of Preston.
He was airlifted via LifeNet to UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Norwich Fire Department, Norwich EMS, and the Preston Fire Department. Cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Sheriffs received yet another report of a one-car motor vehicle accident at approximately 7:30 p.m. Emergency crews from the Norwich Fire Department and EMS, and the North Norwich Fire Department were called to the scene.
Police say the car carrying three occupants was headed east on State Highway 320 when it veered off the roadway and crashed into a ditch. Two of the vehicle’s occupants were transported via ambulance to UHS Chenango Memorial in Norwich, but the third was airlifted by LifeNet to UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City where they remain in critical condition.
