Local artists’ work on display at Uncorked
NORWICH – Two local artists are currently displaying their work at local café, Uncorked through the end of November.
The café has kept up with the trend of showcasing artists month after month by allowing a rotation of artists to display their work throughout the building. Every two months the art changes. From painting to photography to mixed media and more, the look of the café seems to be ever-changing.
Along the main wall is work by Norwich resident Shane Reynolds. Reynolds is displaying both his original paintings as well as his photography. This 17-year-old is well on his way as a successful artist as he has won several awards for his work and most recently opened his own business, Shane Reynolds Photography.
“Much of my work being shown focuses on capturing the 'essence' of a person. Many of my paintings are themed similar to Andy Warhol's style of 'pop art'. Including a few Marilyn Monroe portraits, and my photography has a retro fashion theme,” Reynolds said.
Most of Reynolds’ work at Uncorked is for sale and the artists' contact information can be found with his work.
Showing a variety of brightly covered canvases opposite Reynolds' is artist Sarah Jean Youngs. The artist; a local Otselic Valley Central School graduate, went on to the college of Saint Rose and studied fine art and screen printing.
Youngs, who still lives and works locally, now concentrates mostly on drawing and painting. She is currently exploring sculpture and says she has always loved art of all kinds and says she always tries to push herself to explore her abilities.
For more information about any of the work at Uncorked, call the artist directly as listed at the café.
Uncorked is currently looking to book artists for the winter. Each artist shows their work for a duration of two months and there is no charge to display. Call Jill Kraft at 607-244-1445 for information about hanging art work.
