Often requested food items include individually boxed or bagged mints, hard candies, granola bars, pretzels, crackers, cookies, fruit snacks, and cereal. Also needed are individually packaged powdered Gatorade or Kool-Aid, and chewing gum.
Travel-sized shampoo, body wash, lotions, and deodorant, as well as, toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, lip balm, and razors are also in demand.
Families or individuals who would like to contribute may drop off items at the American Legion at 29 Sheldon St., Norwich by November 21.
The Post 189 Auxiliary shipped approximately 50 pounds of items last spring and sponsored the shipment of 2 large boxes of Girl Scout cookies to troops on deployment.
The community is invited to share in this show of appreciation to the military personnel serving in our country’s armed forces.
