S-E coach Jasper steps down

The Monday after Sherburne-Earlville played its last football game of the season, head varsity coach Mike Jasper submitted his resignation to the school district.

Jasper coached the Marauders for nine seasons, the last six as head coach. He leaves behind a program in good stead with four straight Section III postseason appearances, and five straight years with a .500 record or better.

“It was a good run, and I had a lot of help from the assistant coaches,” Jasper said in a recent interview. “We poured a lot of effort into the program getting the kids to work together, not necessarily one or two working together. I was fortunate to have good guys feeding the varsity program from the modified team on up.”
