Unadilla Valley 50, Cooperstown 43
NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley went to an old staple - the full-court press - to pull away for the victory Monday night against visiting Cooperstown.
The win came 48 hours removed from a S-E tournament finals loss at S-E that was never close. "Cooperstown is a little more comparable to us, and we play better at home," said UV coach Matt Osborne.
The press combined with a zone defense led to a 17-10 final quarter. Junior Ryan Postma had the hot hand over the final eight minutes scoring 11 of his team-high 16 points. Postma hit a three and made four of five free throws in the late momens.
Brett Hanslmaier kept UV in the game early scoring 10 points in the first half, and he finished with 13.
UV is idle until next Tuesday when it hosts Unatego.
