CANASTOTA – Canastota made two single free throws over the final two minutes, and S-E made just one field goal in the last three minutes of the fourth as the Marauders lost for the second time in three games Thursday.
After a promising start, the S-E offense slowed over the final two quarters, and failed to reach 50 points for the second time. Still, the Marauders had possession of the ball late in the game with a chance to tie or take the lead. “We executed and got to the rim, but the shot didn’t fall,” said Marauders coach Kevin Vibbard.
Ben Khoury had 13 points in the loss, the lone Marauders player to score in double figures. “We definitely need to execute a little better on offense, and we’re not getting anything in transition,” Vibbard said. “We’re playing a halfcourt game, and we need to find those points in transition.”
The Marauders visit Cooperstown Saturday night.

Norwich 88, Sherburne-Earlville 61
NORWICH – Coming off a mid-week layoff due to school cancellations, Norwich returned to the pool with great success Thursday winning all but two events in a non-league victory over Sherburne-Earlville.
“We had a lot of one-two finishes, and were able to shore up some events,” said Norwich coach Kevin Diefenbacher. “We should have everyone back for Oneonta (on Tuesday).”
Norwich swept all three relay races, and Jon Manwarren, Tucker Norton, Connor Supensky, and Bruce Winter captured individual events. Manwarren led NHS with four overall wins on the evening.
S-E’s Gavin Lopata swept the 50- and 100-yard freestyles for his team’s lone victories.
“It was a tough week, and being out of the pool two days takes its toll,” Diefenbacher said.

Sherburne-Earlville 5, Clinton 0
EARLVILLE – Faced an undermanned Clinton roster, Sherburne-Earlville’s boys won their fourth straight match blanking the Warriors at Hi-Skor Lanes.
Doug Urben rolled a season-high 639 for S-E (4-1 overall) highlighted by a 245 game. William Philhower added a 603 triple. “Doug rolled the ball really nice, William had a solid night, and the rest of the guys put up some good scores,” said S-E coach Don Philhower. “The match was a little tough mentally. Clinton has a lot of young, new, and inexperienced bowlers, and we had to really concentrate on our games "
