OXFORD – Greene's suffocating defense led it to an 18-point halftime lead in Monday's Oxford Tournament victory.
"We really limited their shot opportunities in the first half, we got a lot of steals, and we rebounded well," said Greene coach Dave Gorton.
Audrey Platta ignited the Trojans offense early scoring nine of her season-high 13 points in the first quarter as Greene assembled a 14-6 lead. "She took charge for us and got us off to a good start," Gorton said of Platta.
Katie Carey led Greene with 14 points, and Kristie Haskell matched Platta's 13-point outing.
The Trojans play Afton in the tournament's title game tonight at 6:15 p.m.

Afton 43, Oxford 26
OXFORD – Afton built a 19-4 lead in the first half, and withstood a furious Oxford rally to advance to the finals of the Oxford Tournament.
Oxford ended the first half on a 9-2 run to close Afton's lead to 21-13, then started the second half on a 11-3 spurt to knot the game up.
"We played really well in the second and third quarters, and fought hard to make it a good game," said Oxford coach Chris Palmer.
Afton's Shakari Coss completed a three-point play late in the third quarter, and then scored the first six points of the fourth quarter as Afton pulled away. "That segment where Coss scored nine straight points was the difference in the game," Palmer said.
Vada Mack and Rachel Seiler each had eight points to lead Oxford, who play Unatego in the consolation game today at 4:30 p.m.
Coss led the Knights with 15.

Sherburne-Earlville 72, Hancock 41
NEW BERLIN – Sherburne-Earlville churned out its highest scoring performance of the season beating Hancock in the Unadilla Valley Tournament Monday.
The Marauders scored the game's first eight points, and assumed a 23-4 lead after one quarter. Lilly Berg had eight in the opening stanza, and Stacia Beckwith scored six. Berg racheted it up in the second-quarter scoring 14 more on her way to a season-high 27-point night.
Savannah Irwin had 19 points including three threes in the second quarter, while Beckwith and Lexi Elderkin netted 10 points apiece. "We were able to turn them over early in the game to get some easy baskets," said S-E coach Karen Mulligan. "We talked about being aggressive, we had good dribble penetration, and we also shot the ball well from the outside."
Berg added 11 rebounds and six blocked shots. The Marauders face Unadilla Valley today at 4:30 p.m.

Bainbridge-Guilford 63, Whitney Point 36
BAINBRIDGE – Bobcats coach Bob Conway said Monday night's performance was perhaps the best his team has played in three or four years.
Tournament MVP Morgan Bullis had 16 points and 18 rebounds lifting her club to the Kazalski Tournament title.
"It's been a while since we played this well," Conway said after the game. "I thought this one would be a barnburner from start to finish."
Rebecca Reyes hit two threes early on as B-G raced to a 12-2 start and a 19-10 advantage after one quarter. The lead grew to 12 at halftime and doubled to 24 points after three quarters.
"We just got into a nice rhythm, and it started with Morgan," Conway said. "She really came to play. She was so active, and they had trouble with her inside."
Eighth-grader Abi Selfridge scored 11 points in the win, Reyes had nine, and freshman Megan Palmatier finished with eight points and 10 rebounds.
Reyes was also selected to the all-tournament team. The Bobcats host Harpursville Jan. 6.

Windsor Tournament
WINDSOR – Indian River of Section III holds 4 1/2-point lead over second-place B-G/A/H after the first day of wrestling at the 58th Annual Windsor Christmas Tournament.
Indian River has 85 1/2 points, the Bears accumulated 81, while Norwich is alone in third place with 75 1/2 points.
Norwich's Eli Rodriguez (99). Dalen Geislinger (113), Tristan Rifanburg (145), and Frank Garcia (152) all advanced to the semifinals.
Wrestling begins today at 10 a.m. with finals scheduled at approximately 5 p.m.
