Rollover in Smyna sends patients to Upstate, St. Elizabeths

SMYRNA – At approximately 2:50 Sunday afternoon, Chenango County dispatchers received a call of a motor vehicle accident on Coy Hill Road in the Town of Smyrna.
The MVA consisted of one vehicle – a pickup truck – that had left the roadway and rolled on Coy Hill approximately one-mile west to county road 20 intersection.
Smyrna command was first to respond and upon assessment of the accident determined that all three passengers of the truck had sustained injures, at which point a LifeNet helicopter was requested for transport of at least one involved.
Shorty after a landing zone was established at the intersection of Beaver Meadow Road and Coy Hill Road, LifeNet crews aborted the flight due to deteriorating weather conditions.
According to Chenango County dispatch records, two patients were transported to SUNY Upstate Medical University and the third was transported to Saint Elizabeths Medical Center in Utica.
