Giroux finished with a career high 21 points and 20 rebounds leading three S-E players in double figures scoring. Ben Khoury and Matt Hull each had a dozen, and Derek Capria was a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul line.

The Marauders scored the first 10 points of the game dominating the offensive glass. Giroux had eight in the opening quarter, Hull hit a three, and Khoury scored on a layup to end the period.

Clinton, just a one-win team this season, erupted for 26 second-quarter points closing the 13-point deficit to 33-29 at halftime.

Malaquias Canery spearheaded the comeback with nine points in the second, and two free throws from Kyle Morris drew Clinton to within 30-29 with 53 seconds left in the half.

After a pair of defensive stops, Khoury, who was on the bench with two fouls, was inserted into the lineup with under 15 seconds to play. Khoury completed a traditional three-point play just before the halftime buzzer raising the S-E lead back to four.

“The second quarter we didn’t play nearly as well as the first, but in the third quarter, we forced a lot of turnovers and put the hammer to them,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard.
