SHERBURNE - Sherburne-Earlville (10-2) extended its winning streak to nine games beating Cooperstown at home Friday night.
The Marauders opened their lead to 12 points at halftime after a slow start. Derek Capria had seven points in the second, and Gavin Giroux scored six in the period. "We played pretty well after the first quarter, and once again, our defense kept us in the game while we kind of struggled on offense in the first quarter," said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard.
In S-E's first meeting with Cooperstown this season, it needed to score five points in the final eight seconds to win by four points, Vibbard said.
S-E senior Ben Khoury was consistent with his scoring throughout the game finishing with a team-high 20 points. Giroux added 14 and Capria had 11.

Norwich 74, Chenango Forks 40
CHENANGO FORKS - Norwich's Jordan Vinal and Zan Stewart each had double-doubles lifting the Tornado to a 34-point road win over Chenango Forks Friday.
Vinal, who made double-doubles a regular happening on the JV level, scored a career-high 16 points to go with 13 rebounds. Stewart had 16 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.
Norwich's offense caught fire in the third period putting 28 points on the board to pad a 30-15 halftime advantage. Five different players had at least two buckets in the quarter.
"They gave us problems in the first half with their size," said Norwich coach Tom Collier. "They were blocking a lot of our shots. We made some adjustments, and it was good for us to do that."
Until the offense hit its stride in the second half, Norwich again turned to its defense. Carlos Ithier shut down Forks' three-point sniper Caleb Link holding him scoreless. Colin Stewart had the primary duty of checking the Blue Devils' leading scorer, Rob Story. Story scored 17, but shot just 33 percent from the field, Collier said.
"They had only won one game coming in to tonight, but (Chenango Forks) had been in every game they played," Collier said. "Our bench gave us a lot of energy, and it was nice to see the camaraderie."
Ithier and Michael Oralls scored nine points in the win, and Colin Stewart added eight. Rodney Tre Bonham led the team with six assists. Norwich hosts Seton Catholic Central Wednesday.
