Drugs recovered following 'no knock' in Norwich
NORWICH — Cocaine, marijuana, illegally possessed prescription pills, digital scales and baggies were recovered from a Norwich residence on Thursday, Feb 5, 2015. Two arrests resulted.
"Even though the heroin epidemic is not in the headlines like it was six months ago, the struggle to contain it continues," said Lieutenant Richard Cobb of the Chenango County Sheriff's Office.
The “no knock” warrant was executed by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Norwich Police Department at approximately 6:30 p.m on Mechanic St. in the City of Norwich.
According to authorities, the search warrant stemmed from a four month long investigation involving multiple heroin and narcotic drug sales from the Norwich residence, and also in the Town of Norwich.
• Jason A. Sigler, 27, Norwich, was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony and criminal nuisance in the first degree, a class E felony.
Sigler was arraigned in Norwich City Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
• Patricia A. Manwarren, 50, Norwich, was charged with criminal nuisance in the first degree, a class E felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor; and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a class B misdemeanor.
Authorities said Manwarren has additional charges pending.
Manwarren was arraigned in Norwich City Court and was remanded to the CCCF in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
A third individual, Michael D. Hackett, 39, was found to be in possession of marijuana, a violation. He was issued an appearance ticket and is to appear in Norwich City Court at a later date.
"The Sheriff's Office, alone with the District Attorney's office continues to aggressively investigate and prosecute those who choose to sell drugs in the county," said Cobb.
