OWEGO – Norwich senior Killian Benedict broke a 23-year-old school record at the Section IV Class B swimming prelims at Owego Free Academy Wednesday night.
Benedict broke Bob Lim’s school record in the 100-yard backstroke, and did so convincingly timing 55.82 seconds to qualify second overall. Benedict also qualified second in the 100-yard freestyle with a season-low time of 49.73 seconds.
NHS senior Jon Manwarren qualified third for the Tornado in the 200-yard freestyle clocking 1:54.34, and the Purple 400-yard freestyle relay is seeded third after prelims clocking 3:39.94.
Finals are scheduled for Saturday.
