Brooks inducted into Fordham athletics HOF

BRONX – Norwich High School graduate, Erin Brooks, was inducted into the Fordham University Athletics Hall of Fame, Saturday, Feb. 7.
Brooks, a 2004 Fordham graduate, was one of seven athletes honored at the awards dinner, held at Fordham’s McGinley Center.
Brooks was accomplished on the field and in the classroom earning second team Academic All-America as a senior and third team Academic All-America as a junior. Following her senior season on the women’s softball team, Brooks was recipient of the 2004 Hobbs Family Award as the school’s outstanding female athlete as well as winning the 2004 Ben Harter Award that is presented annually to the senior athlete with the highest scholastic grade point average from the Gabelli School of Business
Brooks helped the Fordham softball team to its first-ever 30-win season in 2003, and set the Fordham record for runs scored in the season, a record since broken. Brooks is currently seventh-place all-time on the school’s stolen base list with 23.
In 2014, Brooks was named the Haverford College women’s softball coach after serving as head coach in previous stints at Pacific Lutheran in Tacoma, Wash. and John Carroll University.
While in high school at Norwich, Brooks was a Southern Tier Athletic Conference all-star in basketball and softball, and was named to the 1999 Evening Sun All-County basketball team.
