County and Catholic Charities renew contract for supported housing agreement
CHENANGO COUNTY – The Chenango County Board of Supervisors has sealed a deal with Catholic Charities to help find shelter for people with serious mental disabilities.
A county resolution was adopted this month that authorizes renewal of a longstanding supported housing services contract with Catholic Charities to provide assistance for individuals with mental debilitations in finding and securing generic housing.
The $246,000 contract, renewed annually between Chenango County Mental Hygiene Services and Catholic Charities, allows the two agencies to work collaboratively to help residents with mental disabilities choose housing, roommates and furniture, and offers financial assistance to pay the ongoing costs. What’s more, the agreement ensures a support system of case management, mental health, rehabilitation, respite, as well as social, employment and health supports by utilizing the professional staff and resources available through Catholic Charities.
