Arrested for cocaine possession, sent to jail for cash and firearm theft
NORWICH – While Chenango County Sheriff's Office deputies were processing a Plymouth man arrested for cocaine possession, it was discovered the man was also a suspect in a grand larceny investigation involving the theft of money and a firearm.
Following a traffic stop in the Town of Columbus, CCSO arrested Aaron M. Bishop, 31 of Plymouth, for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
It is alleged Bishop was found to be in possession of cocaine during the traffic stop.
Bishop was initially processed and was to be released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Columbus Court at a later date.
While being processed at the Sheriff's Office, deputies realized Bishop was a suspect in a grand larceny investigation regarding a theft that had taken place at a residence in the Town of Plymouth.
A deputy interviewed Bishop and allegedly confirmed Bishop stole the items from the Plymouth residence.
Bishop was charged with one felony count of grand larceny for allegedly stealing money from the residence and another felony count of grand larceny for allegedly stealing a handgun from the same residence.
He was processed, arraigned in the Town of Plymouth Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Plymouth Court at a later date.
