North Norwich business to invest $26 million in facility upgrade
NORWICH – Norwich Pharmaceuticals located in North Norwich, announced a recent decision by its parent organization Alvogen to provide major capital investment in Plant and equipment in the near future.
According to a release from the company, a projected $26 million will be invested into the Chenango County based Norwich Pharmaceuticals with an emphasis on increasing manufacturing capacity.
The capital improvement project is scheduled to take place over the next two years.
"This investment will allow us to acquire equipment upon which many of the newer drug products are being manufactured and sets us up to capture future business opportunities which otherwise would not have been possible. We are excited about what this represents for the future of the Norwich Pharmaceuticals and its ongoing contribution as a member of the local business community.” said Charlie Andrews, Vice President of Operations.
According to the release, the purposed infrastructure and manufacturing upgrades will represent the largest investment in the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility since its original construction in the 1970s and will result in a larger footprint to the complex.
In addition to manufacturing equipment, the investment will upgrade utilities and infrastructure, such as heating, cooling and purified water production.
Engineering design is already underway and construction is scheduled to commence as soon as the ground thaws from this winter’s frost.
