Chenango SPCA to hold bottle and can drive to combat pet overpopulation

NORWICH – The Chenango SPCA (CSPCA) is holding a bottle and can drive to help benefit the Spay, Neuter Outreach Opportunity for Pets program (SNOOP).
The public is asked to bring their returnable cans and bottles to the CSPCA shelter at 6160 County Rd. 32 (East River Rd.) in Norwich. The drive will be held on Thursday, March 19, from noon to 4 p.m.
Funds raised by the drive will assist community members who receive public assistance or are unemployed with the cost of a spay or neuter. Last year the Chenango SPCA gave out over $10,000 in spay/neuter costs that helped hundreds of area animals.
Pet overpopulation is a national crises and there are not enough homes for the millions of unwanted animals brought into the world each year. Many pets die because of this or wind up in over-crowded shelters. Spaying and neutering your animal is the only way to reduce overpopulation. The CSPCA uses funds collected through our donation jars and our collection of bottles and cans to help combat this national problem.
Founded in 1907, CSPCA is an open-admission animal shelter that provides care for lost and homeless pets, adopts pets to new homes, and educates families and the community about the needs of companion animals. CSPCA serves primarily the residents and animals of Chenango County and the surrounding communities. The mission of the Chenango SPCA is to provide and promote care, compassion and respect for our animals and our community.
