State legislature reaches budget agreement
ALBANY – State legislators reached a framework agreement on the roughly $142 billion New York State budget on Sunday.
The deal includes education funding to the tune of $23.5 billion in school aid (an increase of nearly $1.4 billion), as well as $17.7 billion for Medicaid (4.6 percent growth); and $94.3 billion for state operating funds (2 percent growth).
The agreement also encompasses a series of proposals laid out in the governor’s executive budget, including a package of ethics rules with strict disclosure laws for legislators with outside income.
