NORWICH – On March 31, The Place announced that its Chenango Youth Philanthropy Council (CYPC) is accepting funding requests for grants up to $4,000.

The once Norwich-based program of the Chenango United Way, was launched as a county-wide youth engagement program run by The Place in January of 2015 with Norwich, Sherburne-Earlville, and Oxford High Schools participation.

CYPC teaches high school students about philanthropy covering topics related to the needs of the community, nonprofits, foundations, volunteerism, fundraising, and grants. Over the course of the program, the council transitions into a student-led foundation – developing a Request for Proposal/application, accepting and reviewing grant applications, and determining which nonprofit organization to fund.
