NHS names Valedictorian and Salutatorian
NORWICH – The Norwich City School District is proud to announce the Class of 2015’s Valedictorian, Alexis Laundry, and Salutatorian, Megan Mirabito.
Alexis Laundry achieved a 100.15 percent grade point average. Throughout high school, Alexis has been a member of National Honor Society, Pep Club, Mock Trial, Odyssey of the Mind, the High School Musical, and Student Government. Alexis also has been an outstanding member of the Norwich varsity swim team, USA swim team, and the Norwich YMCA swim team, qualifying for the New York State Competition in multiple events each season. Alexis has earned various academic honors and awards throughout high school such as the highest PSAT score in our school her Sophomore year, Clarkson University Leadership Award, University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award, and attended the Harvard Summer School Program in 2013, where she earned eight college credits. Alexis will be attending Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts in the fall where she will be studying Chemical Engineering and Pre-Law with the career goal of becoming a Patent Attorney.
Megan Mirabito, Salutatorian, achieved a 98.43 percent grade point average. Megan is class treasurer, treasurer of Pep Club, treasurer of National Honor Society, is an officer of the student chapter of Dollars for Scholars, co-editor of the yearbook, and captain of the varsity girls’ soccer team. She has also participated in YES Leads, mock trial, rotary, the RYLA Leadership conference, NHS Leadership retreat, and was Norwich High School’s recipient of the Daniel B. Swift Scholar Recognition Award. Megan has volunteered as a referee for youth basketball, at the SPCA, at holiday events at St. Bartholomew’s, and is a daily math tutor at the Middle School. Megan will be attending SUNY New Paltz in the fall of 2015 where she will be double majoring in journalism and graphic design.
