OWEGO – One bad inning cost the Purple Tornado in Thursday's road loss to Owego.
The Indians plated seven runs in the bottom of the third to extend their lead to 12-3. "This game was winnable and I saw some improvement, we just need to get rid of the errors and you can't give up 13 basehits," said Norwich coach Rich Turnbull.
Owego's Zach Zielinski and Ben Schmidt had two hits and each drove in three runs.
Norwich mounted a season-high 13 hits, but left 10 runners on base. Jake Walsh went 3-for-4 with two RBI, Nick Murphy was 3-for-3 with two RBI, and Kevin Porack added three hits.
Gabe Gojani was solid in relief pitching three-plus innings and allowing just one run.
