Woman accused of assaulting infant arraigned and released

NORWICH – After allegedly assaulting her boyfriend's 14-month-old son, a McDonough woman was arraigned by Judge Frank B. Revoir, Jr. in Chenango County Court and released to appear in court at a later date.
On her birthday, March 17, 2015, 22-year-old Lindsey L. McGehee was arrested by the New York State Police Troop C.
According to the superior court information, it is alleged McGehee intentionally caused physical injury to her boyfriend's 14-month-old son by pulling him while his leg was stuck between the slats of a crib, which caused the boy to receive a spiral fracture to his right femur.
She was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
On April 17, 2015, McGehee waived her right to be indicted by a grand jury and was arraigned for the class D felony of assault in the second degree and the class A misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child. She pleaded not guilty on both counts.
Her public defender, Lindon B. Summers, requested McGehee be released on her own recognizance since he said she will not be living at the residence where the victim lives and will have no contact with the victim or the victim's siblings.
He said she will be staying at her mother's home in Norwich instead.
District Attorney Joseph A. McBride requested if McGehee was released that she have no contact with the victims in the case or any other children.
Summers said during a family court proceeding it was determined McGehee could have supervised contact with her own children.
Revoir said he would release McGehee on her own recognizance with the conditions that she have no contact with the victim or the victim's siblings and no contact with any other children besides her own biological children.
He said the visits with her children must be supervised by the Department of Social Services or someone approved by DSS.
Revoir issued a full order of protection for the victim.
McGehee was released from the county jail last Friday, and she is to appear in court at a later date.
