Man arrested for burglary, held on $75k bail

AFTON — A 26-year-old Afton man was arrested for third degree burglary on Thursday and is being held at the county jail on $75,000 bail.
New York State Police at Sidney arrested Kody S. Proffitt of Palm Coast, Fla., formerly of Afton, as a result of an investigation into an incident which took place in the early morning hours Thursday in Afton.
According to authorities with the State Police, Proffitt did forcibly enter a residence unlawfully.
Third degree burglary is a class D felony.
Proffitt was arraigned in the Town of Afton Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000 cash bail.
His next court appearance has not been released, and will be determined by the Afton Court.
Further information will be released as it is made available.
As of this time (11:22 a.m., Friday), Proffitt remains incarcerated and has not posted bail.
