Sabers thwart Norwich with big third inning
Softball
Susquehanna Valley 13, Norwich 3
NORWICH – Norwich gave up nine runs in the top of the third inning to drop its fifth straight game on Monday.
Katelyn Page had a two-run single to start the SV inning, and Cici Clifford's grand slam capped the uprising.
"There were a couple of times we had two strikes on a batter, and Sus Valley put the ball in play," said Norwich coach Scott Moore. "Their extra-base hits were hit hard, but the rest of the balls just found holes, and their kids ran around the bases."
Jordan Sanford and Gabby Mirabito had RBI hits in the sixth for Norwich, and Bridget Murphy tripled in the seventh and scored on Shannon Moore's single.
Norwich (2-7) is at Windsor today.
