DA Joseph McBride honored for dedication and compassion to Chenango County crime victims
NORWICH – Chenango County District Attorney Joseph A. McBride was recently honored by Catholic Charities of Chenango County for his tireless efforts to assist Chenango County crime victims in their time of need. He was presented with the esteemed Guardian Award.
“I am honored to receive this award from Catholic Charities of Chenango County,” said McBride. “The job of D.A. isn’t an easy one, but it’s very rewarding. Every day it’s my job to protect our community and assist crime victims. It’s what the people elected me to do, and I take this job very seriously.”
The award was presented for McBride’s “compassion and dedication to assisting victims of crime in Chenango County.”
Catholic Charities serves those who are most vulnerable and in greatest need throughout Chenango County. They are known throughout the state for their leadership and compassion.
Annually, nearly 800 individuals in Chenango County are assisted through the Catholic Charities Crime Victims Program, and nearly 100 crime victims are provided shelter through the program.
The Catholic Charities Crime Victims Program’s mission is “to provide a safe haven for the most vulnerable, support to move victims from harm to healing, and intervention in the cycle of violence to promote an individual’s right to live without abuse.” The program provides direct services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and other crimes.
McBride has served as Chenango County District Attorney since 1999.
