Oxford boys move over the .500 mark

Oxford 3, Harpursville 2
OXFORD – Oxford moved over the .500 mark for the first time this season beating Harpursville in the MAC mini-tournament Monday.
Oxford pitcher Austin Crawford logged six strong innings for the win striking out seven and walking none, and Kevin Davis tossed a spotless seventh for the save.
Oxford broke a 2-2 tie scoring the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth.
Dylan Depew walked to start the inning, and Crawford reached on a one-out error. Corey Marshman then singled up the middle scoring Depew with the winner.
Marshman went 2-for-3 from the number nine spot in the lineup; Davis and Nick Neer added single ribbies, and Kyle Crawford scored two runs.
Mike Robinson homered for Harpursville.

Bainbridge-Guilford 7, Afton 4
BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to erase a two-run deficit in Monday's MAC mini-tournament matchup.
Kyle Hanvey hit a sacrifice fly to start the scoring, Trevor Halaquist scored a run on a fielder's choice, and Zach Ouimet broke the tie with a two-run single.
Hanvey pitched 1 1-3 innings of relief to earn the victory. It was the second time this season he wrapped up a victory over Afton, said B-G coach Tim Mattingly.
Halaquist was 3-for-4 in the win, while Ouimet and Bailey Green added two hits. "We haven't come up with the clutch hits this season, but we're hoping this sixth inning gets us going as we head toward sectionals," Mattingly said.
Vince Caiati had two hits for Afton.
The Bobcats (8-5) play at Hancock Wednesday.

Edmeston 17, G-MU 3 (6 innings)
COPES CORNERS – State ranked Edmeston scored five runs in its opening at-bat, and never looked back in Monday's victory at G-MU.
Dylan Rollins doubled twice and drove in five runs for the Panthers. Linton Wainright went 3-for-5, Clayton Lyon was 2-for-2 with three runs scored, and Kyle King had two hits in the victory. "We didn't make a lot of errors, Edmeston just hit the ball really well today," said G-MU coach Dana Zietz.
Andrew Baker had two RBI for G-MU, who play at Worcester Wednesday.

Delhi 14, Unadilla Valley 10
NEW BERLIN – Delhi erased a 5-0 deficit scoring 11 runs in the top of the third in Monday's win at Unadilla Valley.
Delhi capitalized on four UV errors, two passed balls, and a catcher's interference – along with four hits – to accumulate the runs. "Our pitchers did their job, but the errors were the story of the game tonight," said UV coach Eileen Lawyer.
Austin Bedient and Peter Lamakos drove in two runs apiece for the Bulldogs.
Cory Lamb had a two-run single for UV, Nick Stirone finished with two hits, and Brendan Brooker hit a solo home run in UV's four-run first. The Storm play at Sidney Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Johnson City 11, Norwich 1
NORWICH – Johnson City plated runs in each of the first four innings, and pitcher Dan Espe defeated Norwich for the second time this season in the Tornado's season finale Monday.
The Wildcats built an 8-0 lead after four innings led by Nick Chilson. Chilson was 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored. Espe, meanwhile, induced 10 flyball outs, had five strikeouts, and surrendered just three Norwich hits.
"Our pitching and defense were probably our biggest letdowns this season," said Norwich coach Rich Turnbull, whose club finishes 1-17.
Johnson City committed both of its errors in the seventh inning leading to Chris Trevisani's RBI single.

Softball

Johnson City 11, Norwich 9
NORWICH – Norwich just ran out of innings Monday in losing a seesaw battle with Johnson City.
The Wildcats took the lead for good with three runs in the fifth as Norwich was charged with three straight errors. Two more NHS errors in the sixth helped propel another three-run uprising. "The errors really hurt, and it's hard to win with a crooked number of errors," said Norwich coach Scott Moore.
JC leadoff hitter Alex Hein went 4-for-4 with two runs scored.
Kassidy Seary had two RBI for Norwich (4-13), and Katelyn Dowdall smacked a two-run double in the third to give Norwich a 4-3 lead.
Norwich closes its season Wednesday at Chenango Valley.

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville swept a doubleheader from Mount Markham Monday, and with the victories clinched a spot in the Section III tournament later this month.
Emma Hodges tossed a one-hitter in the opener striking out seven. Alexis Kane had an RBI double in the Marauders' three-run second inning, and Hodges helped her own cause with two hits in the win.
The Marauders' bats came to life in the final two innings of the nightcap scoring 15 of their 16 runs. Sierra Barker, Hodges, and Abbey Beaver all went 2-for-3, and Savannah Irwin smacked a two-run homer in the fifth.
Crystal Beckwith pitched a complete-game victory allowing just two hits for the victory.

Edmeston 10, G-MU 1
COPES CORNERS – Edmeston pitcher Catherine Johnson was nearly unhittable in pitching the Panthers to a road win over G-MU Monday.
Johnson surrendered a first-inning single to Kelsey Ross, and a subsequent outfield error scored Ross with the only run. Johnson mowed down the next 16 G-MU hitters and finished with 17 strikeouts. "Johnson is the best pitcher in our league, and Edmeston is just a solid team," said G-MU coach Jim Johnson.
Kaitlin Gott had three hits and three RBI for Edmeston, and Johnson doubled and tripled to help her own cause.
G-MU (6-5) plays at Worcester Wednesday.
