First career ace for Hughes

PLYMOUTH – Stuart Hughes, Norwich, recorded his first career hole-in-one, Saturday, May 23 at Canasawacta Country Club.
Playing the white tees on the 130-yard second hole, Hughes was playing with John "Pencil" Swertfager, Mike Blinebry, and Lee Supensky in an early-morning round. "As soon as I hit it, I said, 'too high,'" Hughes said of his tee shot. "When I hit shots like that, the ball doesn't really release, but this time it landed 10 feet and rolled toward the hole."
A shadow over the pin obscured the foursome's view of the ball, so Hughes did not know the ball was in the hole until he walked up to the pin and looked in the hole. Hughes used a gap wedge for his ace, and went on to shoot a season-best 72 over the par-71 layout.
The hole-in-one was the second at the course in less than a month. Norwich High School student, Ryan Johnson, notched his third career hole-in-one – that, too, on the second hole – playing in a twosome with Norwich eighth-grader Alex Gage.

Rideout records hole-in-one at Bluestone
OXFORD – James Rideout, Bainbridge, playing in an annual family outing on Memorial Day, recorded the first hole-in-one of the season at Bluestone Golf Course.
Rideout used an 8-iron on the 140-yard 8th hole, and was playing with Kyle Rideout, Brent Rideout, and Andrew Kilker.
