Norwich woman sentenced to state penitentiary

NORWICH – On Friday, June 4, Donna M. Huzinec of Norwich was given one-to-three years in a state penitentiary after a sentencing hearing at Chenango County Court. Huzinec was found guilty of multiple felony charges after entering her own guilty plea for grand larceny.

Huzinec was charged with grand larceny and forgery after she filed and received payments for services that she did not provide while working for Springbrook Residential Services. According to the Court, Huzinec received nearly $104,000 in fraudulent requests from August 2009 through June 2014. Huzinec, who had little to no criminal background, entered a plea of guilty on May 4.

“I won’t make any excuses,” said Huzinec as she read a prepared statement before Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr. She went on to say that she understands her mistake and feels remorse for what she has done.
