United Way seeks volunteers to help Greater Chenango Cares

NORWICH – The Chenango County United Way is still seeking helping hands for one of the largest volunteer efforts it’s ever taken on.

The organization is calling on locals to help fill 900 volunteer slots for the Greater Chenango Cares Innovative Readiness Training event to be held at the Norwich High School July 13-22. Nearly 500 have signed up so far, but the United Way says every slot must be filled to help the event go seamlessly.

Greater Chenango Cares is a collaboration with the United States Department of Defense that will bring dozens of service men and women into the area to provide no-cost health care, dental, vision and veterinary services to community members. Referrals will also be given to patients in need of further care.
