Bridge at Kurt Beyer Park to be repaired

NORWICH – The pedestrian bridge over Canasawacta Creek at Kurt Beyer Park will get some much needed repairs thanks to help from the Follett Foundation and the Greater Norwich Foundation.
The Norwich Common Council recently passed a resolution favoring the project which uses grant money from the Greater Norwich and Follett foundations to foot costs of fixing the bridge. The two foundations have donated $10,000 each toward the project.
Upon recommendation from the city’s Joint Committees, the Common Council has also accepted a project proposal from Wilcox Construction totaling $19,614.
Norwich Mayor Joseph Maiurano said the city is fortunate to have received grant money to offset costs of the project and has thanked the Follett Foundation and Greater Norwich Foundation for their support.
