10 people shot in Syracuse over holiday weekend

SYRACUSE (AP) - Syracuse police say 10 people were shot in less than 24 hours over Fourth of July weekend and another person was hit by gunfire early Monday. The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (http://bit.ly/1LNtz0c ) that victim has died.
Police said the violence began just after 10 p.m. Saturday when someone opened fire on a crowd watching Fourth of July fireworks and four people were struck by bullets.
By Sunday afternoon, another six people had been shot. One shooting scene was in the same area on the southwest side of the city where police responded early Monday.
Police tape was hung in front of every home on the block where the last victim was struck. Police Chief Frank Fowler was at the scene early Monday but declined comment.
