Seven indicted by grand jury in July

NORWICH – This week seven individuals were indicted for various crimes by a Chenango County grand jury. Crimes ranged from the manufacture of methamphetamines to burglaries as defendants from all over the county had the cases against them presented.

• Julie M. Mulwane, 39, Oxford, was indicted on charges including welfare fraud in the third degree, a class D felony, and offering false instrument for filling in the first degree, an E felony. It is alleged that Mulwane received more than $15,000 in public assistance that she was not entitled to. Mulwane’s case will be tried at a later date.

• Daniel J. Astrologo, 33, Bainbridge, was indicted on charges of burglary in the second degree, a class C felony, and petit larceny. It is alleged that Astrologo broke into another person’s dwelling and stole a desktop computer.

• James R. Orr, 53, Oxford, was arrested for and indicted on charges including a felony DWI. Orr was allegedly driving in the Town of Smithville when stopped by law enforcement who believe that Orr was driving while intoxicated.
