Eric Lindell to return to Norwich for NBT Bank Free Summer Concert Series

NORWICH – “And the sunny daze are few and far between, right before your darkest hour it seems, it seems the sun may never shine. And right before you think that everything, it may never change, surely the sun will come out to shine,” are the beginning lyrics to guitarist and vocalist Eric Lindell’s song titled Sunny Daze.
As this summer’s weather has been a mix of both rain and sunshine, the NBT Bank Summer Concert Series is set to continue tonight, and as of press time, the show is still to take place in the East Park in downtown Norwich.
The location in the event of inclement weather is the Martin W. Kappel Theater in the Chenango Arts Council on West Main Street in Norwich.
Lindell is to hit the stage at 7 p.m., and he is no stranger to the Norwich audience.
In an interview the last time Lindell performed in town he said, “I love playing in Norwich. When I come up there everything is just so beautiful - the countryside, the people. It’s been a couple of years, so we’re really looking forward to this.”
Lindell last performed in the area in 2013.
Lindell first appeared at the Chenango Blues Festival in 2007, and has been a favorite of both festival organizers and fans alike ever since. He is known for his soulful vocal delivery, skills on the guitar, songwriting, and riveting (and energetic) live show.
In the previous interview Lindell additionally said, “Norwich is just a really beautiful place. Everyone on the [Chenango Blues Association] committee, Eric Larsen, the people – they are so hospitable. You know, we’re just up there keeping it real. Three chords and the truth. People dig that.”
Lindell’s most recent release titled The Sun and the Sea will be available, and is also available for purchase at his website.
Per his website, “Lindell's performances have become showcase events where you're as likely to witness a ten-minute jam of brilliant-yet-understated guitar histrionics as you are to be pulled in to an intimate acoustic tale of love, loss and redemption.”
Lindell has recorded more than a dozen albums since his debut in 1996.
The musicians style spans far and wide. Per his website, “For the better part of two decades he's hijacked soul on a cross-country ride that stretches north to the Blues in Chicago, south to the funky vibe of his adopted hometown of New Orleans, east to the R&B of Detroit and west to California for a taste of the Bakersfield sound - and sometimes … that’s all in one song.”
