Two felony cases in Chenango County Court
NORWICH – Tyler S. Dodge, 24, of Norwich appeared in Chenango County Court on Wednesday July 29, 2015.
Dodge was originally charged in Delaware County Court with grand larceny in the 3rd degree, a class D felony.
Dodge was released after his grandmother posted bail.
Dodge reappeared in Chenango County Court before Norwich City Judge, James E. Downey, after Dodge violated his probation. It is alleged that Dodge violated his probation due to a positive test for narcotics in his system.
Judge James E. Downey went on to exonerated the bail money Dodge was originally released on, due to there being no apparent reason to forfeit it.
“Justice Delayed, is justice denied,” said Downey.
Dodge was remanded to the custody of the Chenango County Correctional Facility, without bail.
Dodge's attorney asked for a private conference free of the press at this time.
No court date has been set at this time but Dodge will appear in Chenango County Court again once a date is decided on.
Jason A. Sigler, 27, or Norwich, also was set to appear in Chenango County Court yesterday July, 29. Sigler was to appear for a review of conditions of release on bail.
Sigler failed to appear in court, however his attorney Scott Clippinger was present for the matter.
Sigler was originally arrested for two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony, and criminal nuisance in the first degree, a class E felony. These charges were placed on Sigler, following a four-month long investigation involving heroin and other drug sales, according to the Chenango County Sheriff deputies involved.
Sigler has since been released as he posted bail.
Sigler was to reappear in court due to a lack of him reporting to James Everard, the Chenango County treatment court coordinator, which was a condition of him being out on bail.
The issue remains if the court will be forced to issue a warrant for his arrest or if he will appear in court willingly.
“The position still is that he hasn’t done what hes supposed to have done. He was supposed to go see Mr. Everard and he hasn't. When he is here, I am going to ask that he be remanded again and the bail increased,” said Chenango County District Attorney, Joseph A. McBride.
Sigler is set to reappear August 10th at 10 a.m. in Norwich City Court.
